Planning Services
Most commercial premises come with planning consent for a particular use, as defined by the Use Classes Order 1987. To change from one type of use class to another often requires planning permission, as do most types of development or alterations to buildings. For further information:

Business Rates or National Non Domestic Rates (NNDR)
Every five years, each commercial property in the country is assessed by the Valuation Office Agency (a branch of the Inland Revenue) and given a rateable value. This is used to calculate what each business will pay in rates each year. The rates are paid into a central pool and redistributed to local authorities to help pay for the services they provide. Environmental Services

Property Services
This service is responsible for managing approximately 1,200 property assets owned by Bath & North East Somerset, with a capital value of approximately £350 million. This includes shops, market stalls, offices, industrial units and land in Bath, Keynsham, Radstock and Midsomer Norton available for rent and purchase. For further information
